Rita Leistner is a Canadian photojournalist based in Toronto. She has a Master of Arts degree in comparative literature from the University of Toronto, and is a graduate of the International Center of Photogaphy in New York. Her work has been exhibited widely and published in books and magazines including The Walrus, Maclean's, Ideas, Alphabet City, Time, Newsweek, Colors and Rolling Stone. Her photography and writing have received numerous awards, including three Gold Medals at the Canadian National Magazine Awards. She is the recipient of a 2007 Arts Partners grant to collaborate with First Nations playwright Marie Clements on a multi-media stage production examining the life and work of photographer Edward S. Curtis. She is co-author of Unembedded: Four Independent Photojournalists on the War in Iraq, and is represented by Redux Pictures in New York. www.ritaleistner.com |
